Again--all these candidates are worthy candidates--so why is Diana Irey getting so much more support? The Rightroots endorsed candidates for the US House and Senate (and the amounts raised so far) are:
US House of Representatives RaisedMichele Bachmann (MN-06) $ 1,144.00Chuck Blasdel (OH-6) $ 615.00Max Burns (GA-12) $ 774.00John Gard (WI-08) $ 725.00Diana Irey (PA-12) $ 5,459.00Jeff Lamberti (IA-03) $ 659.00Ray Meier (NY-24) $ 689.00David McSweeney (IL-08) $ 740.00Rick O'Donnell (CO-07) $ 690.00Peter Roskam (IL-06) $ 615.00Scott Tipton (CO-3) $ 799.00Van Taylor (TX-17) $ 1,624.00Chris Wakim (WV-01) $ 610.00Mike Whalen (IA-01) $ 489.00US Senate RaisedThomas Kean (New Jersey) $ 925.00Michael Steele (Maryland) $ 1,935.06Mark Kennedy (Minnesota) $ 3,460.00Mike McGavick (Washington) $ 1,084.00
I can't say for sure, but I'll bet anything it has to do with the sources of support. Again, I may be wrong, but aside from the fact that Irey is a more than worthy opponent, it is my guess that the lion's share of Irey's funding is coming from veterans, disgruntled with the way that John Murtha has sold out his fellow Marines.
Even though Irey is far behind Murtha with regard to campaign war chests (and given Murtha's girth, probably a bit behind in that area, too), people across the nation are taking notice of the Murtha-Irey campaign and understand what is at stake.
