Again--all these candidates are worthy candidates--so why is Diana Irey getting so much more support?
The Rightroots endorsed candidates for the US House and Senate (and the amounts raised so far) are:
US House of Representatives Raised Michele Bachmann (MN-06) $ 1,144.00 Chuck Blasdel (OH-6) $ 615.00 Max Burns (GA-12) $ 774.00 John Gard (WI-08) $ 725.00 Diana Irey (PA-12) $ 5,459.00 Jeff Lamberti (IA-03) $ 659.00 Ray Meier (NY-24) $ 689.00 David McSweeney (IL-08) $ 740.00 Rick O'Donnell (CO-07) $ 690.00 Peter Roskam (IL-06) $ 615.00 Scott Tipton (CO-3) $ 799.00 Van Taylor (TX-17) $ 1,624.00 Chris Wakim (WV-01) $ 610.00 Mike Whalen (IA-01) $ 489.00 US Senate Raised Thomas Kean (New Jersey) $ 925.00 Michael Steele (Maryland) $ 1,935.06 Mark Kennedy (Minnesota) $ 3,460.00 Mike McGavick (Washington) $ 1,084.00
I can't say for sure, but I'll bet anything it has to do with the sources of support. Again, I may be wrong, but aside from the fact that Irey is a more than worthy opponent, it is my guess that the lion's share of Irey's funding is coming from veterans, disgruntled with the way that John Murtha has sold out his fellow Marines.
Even though Irey is far behind Murtha with regard to campaign war chests (and given Murtha's girth, probably a bit behind in that area, too), people across the nation are taking notice of the Murtha-Irey campaign and understand what is at stake.
